What are Oral Learners?
AThere are a billion people speaking thousands of languages without written Bibles or access to the Gospel.
- A written translation of the Bible is not yet available in more than 2,000 languages.
- They can't or won't read a Bible because they learn best by stories, songs and proverbs.
- To really understand the Gospel, they must hear the stories of the Bible in their own heart language and learning style.
Most people without scripture today live in what are called unreached people groups that are often hostile to the Gospel. Thousands of unreached people groups have little or no access to the gospel. Each group has an affinity not shared with any other people group because of language, religion, ethnicity, residence, class or caste, or a combination of these. These cultural differences prevent the gospel from easily spreading from one people group to another. Taken together, these differences form an impenetrable wall to the gospel. That’s why, until now, a billion people have been effectively barred from access to the gospel.
