Why Missionaries Need Prayer

People who serve God in ways that bring the message of salvation to people who have never had an opportunity to hear it in 2,000 years are under special assault from the spiritual enemies of the all-powerful God. They can't overpower Him, yet they look for every opportunity to stop or discourage His servants. The Psalms give cries for help that still resonate today:

“You are my shield, and you give me victory and great honor.
I pray to you, and you answer from your sacred hill.
I sleep and wake up refreshed because you, LORD, protect me” (3:3-5 CEV).

“How long must I be confused and miserable all day?
How long will my enemies keep beating me down?
Please listen, LORD God, and answer my prayers.
Make my eyes sparkle again, or else I will fall into the sleep of death ...
I trust your love, and I feel like celebrating because you rescued me.
You have been good to me, LORD, and I will sing about you” (13:2-6 CEV).
